Husband and wife duo, Scott and Sarah Gall, claimed their respective state championships in Iowa this weekend. Sarah claimed the women’s championship by over 12 and a half minutes with a time of 56:28. Her nearest competitor was Carla Stoner of West Des Moines, Iowa in 1:09:00. Another 8 minutes back, in 1:17, was Julie Tyler of Waterloo, finishing in third.
Scott finished 2 minutes and 16 seconds ahead of Nate Canton to win the men’s race. Gall’s time was 44:40 to Canton’s 46:56. Peter Witucki finished in third, crossing the line 48 minutes and 2 seconds into the race.
Iowa also had a 5k race. John Paul Sevick won in 28:27. Kelly Sampson won the women’s 5k in 31:31.
