Kevin Tarras of Grawn, MI won the Michigan State Snowshoe Championships today. The Bigfoot Boogie in Traverse City played host to this year’s championship 10k race. The 29 year old Tarras finished in a time of 47:03.2. Jeb Stone finished 2nd in 47:42.7. Marshall Randall came in a little over 2 and a half minutes later to take 3rd in 50:24.6.
27 year old Erin O’Mara of Ypsilanti claimed the Championship on the women’s side, finishing in 50:30.5. O’Mara’s nearest competitor, Karen Osborn, came in over 6 minutes later with a time of 56:47.4. Molly Kidner of Twin Lake finished 3rd in 57:57.9.
The Boogie also held a 5k event. Kevin Deyo won with a 25:32, Asa Kelly was 2nd in 25:45, and Ryan Rebain was 3rd, finishing in 25:48. The women’s 5k was won by Meg Stall in 29:28, with Katie Tomczyk in 2nd (29:43), and Melany Mioduszewski in 3rd (30:35).
